Spicy Sriracha Hummus Recipe

Yes, you read that right.  Sriracha Hummus.  Hummus with Sriracha.  Are you frantically wondering why you never thought of this until now?  Never fear, a recipe is here!

Being vegetarian, I am obviously a big fan of hummus.  Hummus has saved my life at many a party (and restaurant!)  Come to think of it, I have never met anyone who didn’t like hummus.  Final word on the subject:  hummus fucking rocks.


You know what else fucking rocks?  Sriracha!  Most everyone loves Sriracha.  As my Filipino friend Philip once said, “It’s hilarious that all the white people love Sriracha so much now.  Ten years ago none of them would touch it!”  It’s so true though – it has certainly become a food fad as of late.  At most diners and restaurants I go into now (in San Diego anyway) there is almost always a bottle of Sriracha in the condiment line up.  I put that stuff on everything – rice, eggs, soup, tofu… it’s the best.

Hummus and Sriracha together is a revelation – I promise you’ll love it.  It’s great for home use, or an easy thing to take to a party that is sure to impress.  At first people will think, ‘Oh, she brought hummus, that was nice.‘  And then you’ll say, “It’s Sriracha hummus.”  And then their heads will explode.

I am a big fan of fool proof recipes, especially ones where you don’t have to measure much.  I’ve tried to make this one as easy as possible for you – I’d guess if you went fast enough you could make it in 3 minutes, but we’ll call it 5.  I also made it so that you only need a tablespoon to measure, and that’s it!  Less dishes = better.



What you’ll need:

  • 1 can chickpeas (a.k.a. garbanzo beans), drained
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • Juice of one lemon (just squeeze it on in there, seeds and all, they’ll blend right up)
  • 4 TBSP tahini
  • 3 TBSP water
  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • Dash of salt (to taste)
  • Dash of cumin
  • Dash of pepper
  • 3 TBSP Sriracha
  • Food processor or blender


  1. Dump everything into the food processor.
  2. Blend on high.  Scrape sides.  Blend again until smooth.
  3. Dump into serving bowl and let it BLOW YOUR MIND.
